seasons of san francisco
Some people claim that San Francisco doesn't have seasons. I say that isn't true. What seems to some to be a lack of seasonality is, in fact, more than the average city has to offer. For instance, we are currently experiencing our first autumn. This generally occurs, appropriately enough, around tax time. It was preceded, as always, by our first spring which starts around President's day, is known as True Spring and is usually topped of with a week of early summer.
So, this first autumn we are now experiencing will be followed by a second spring and then our second summer, which takes us through to Gay Pride (at the end of June) at which point we enter into San Francisco's second winter...albeit a winter in which the only precipitation will be a very heavy fog. This goes through to Labor day at which point we have a week or two of spring before plunging into our third summer. (also known as True Summer) Around Halloween we sync up with the rest of the country and enter into True Autumn and then True Winter.
By this count we have two winters, two autumns, three springs and three summers. None too shabby for a city with no seasons.Labels: dose of mikey, san francisco
