Finally watched LOTR: Return of the King this weekend. Four hours and pretty good. It skipped a part of the book that I wish we could've seen, but it probably would've made the movie too long even for a lazy weekend. (We've had the DVD from Netflix for almost two months now waiting for a good chunk of time to watch it during. About time we traded it in for a different one.)

Chatted on the phone for quite a bit with Dude on Saturday and then today with M. Nice to have conversations lying on the couch with a cup of coffee at my side instead of while walking through downtown SF on may way to the Muni after work.

Got inspired by the chat with Dude and went to Target today to upgrade our cooking gear for when we take him and Dudette camping. Dangerous place that Target. Everything's so well priced that we always end up getting a bit more than we planned on...but it's all good.

Watched Timeline tonight. Ignored by both the public and the critics when it came out, so I was suprised to find that it's a pretty good movie. (If you like your Action/Adventure Sword and Shield movie mixed up with a bit of Sci Fi.)

I liked it because it was more accurate to the period than I would've thought. The DVD also has some very nice special features that go beyond the usual regurgitation of the promo spots that would've aired on Extra when the film was first released. They do a good job of capturing what it was like to make the film and give some interesting views of just how much can still go into a movie set these days when you don't want to rely on CG.

I'm glad we started it early enough to watch them since they clocked about an hour all together. And now to bed.
