81:01

We have a projection clock. Because of the recent shuffling of furniture in the bedroom, the numbers are upside down for me when I look up at them from my comfy hollow in the pillow. This morning I awoke at 81:01

It got me thinking, wouldn't it be great if we lived in a world with days that were 82 hours long? That is, wouldn't it be great if we still had an average 8 hours a day to work, but got all that extra time to do whatever else we wanted?

Then it occurred to me that there would be more jobs created, which would be great for the economy. The service sector would need to stay open longer to meet the needs of all those people. Multiple swing shifts. In fact, many middle managers, like myself, would have to switch to jobs in the service sector just to keep things running for those of us who were off of work. Then I thought that we'd probably all have to get extra jobs IN the service sector on top of our normal jobs in order to have money to spend and keep our households running during those extra 58 hours each day. Suddenly 82 hours seemed like an awful lot of time.

What about 26 hours? I think I could manage that.

I think France is trying something like an 82 hour day with keeping the 8 hour work-week.

I think they are. Maybe not. But I wouldn't put it past them. You know, because they're French and all...

...?
