Inclusion-Body Myositis is not an A list disease that regularly makes it into the news, but it affects countless people across our country, and the globe, every day. Sadly, there is currently no effective treatment.

We had our second grass-roots walk this past September and managed to raise about $6000. Not a lot when compared to the funds raised by big-name disease walks, but we were very happy to beat last year's total...and there's still time for you to help out.

Donate at the official Myositis Association Page. Under "Campaign Donation" choose Dagmar Slaven - 2nd Annual Walk.

It's simple to do, and any amount is appreciated. Whether it's $10 (the price of a movie ticket) or $10 thousand. (We can dream!)

I could have plugged a lot of causes near and dear to me here, but in honor of my Mom, I've chosen the above to focus on.

The Myomusings site is her story. About dealing with a disease that is slowly taking away muscle mass, mostly in her arms and legs, and forcing her to give up everything from playing the guitar to walking. Her courage and ingenuity in the face of adversity are an inspiration, and she has a lot to offer any person suffering from a debilitating illness.

I haven't updated this blog much over the past year, but it's suddenly getting hundreds of hits. I'm not quite selfish enough to keep those to myself.

So where's the blog? (I hear the cries from the tens of you who still occasionally check.) Well, it's still here, just hidden underneath the new home page. I'll send you a link if you're really that interested in revisiting the life and times of a random person during the naughts...but honestly, the movie sharing the title put a kibbosh on any sort of regular updates.
